Timothy Rhinehart
As a native South Carolinian, I grew up trail riding and playing "Cowboys and Indians" on horseback in Kings Mountain State Park. As a teenager, I began bull riding and became very involved in several rodeo circuits. At 24 years old, I had a horrible car accident and lost my right leg just below the knee. During my rehabilitation process, I worked with South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation and also found Scot Thompson a CP with Advanced Prosthetics. After months of rehabilitation and physical therapy, I was finally received my first prosthetic leg. Scot has been a blessing. He offers advice and instruction every step of the way.
I am a welder by trade. Like thousands of others, I was caught in a round of layoffs due to the recession. After submitting numerous applications, I found a temporary job. However, I continue to search for a permanent job in the welding industry. During my financial struggles, Scot made my temporary legs at no cost. Later, I received funding with SC Vocational Rehab which helped me cover the cost of my permanent leg. With everyone’s help, I was able to go back to work 11 months after the accident. In the beginning, I started working part time 2-3 hours a day, but within two months I able to work 40 hours a week. Advanced Prosthetics and Scot have given me a chance to get my feet back under me!
